Promise People Ceramic Sculpture, Medium
These figures* are part of an ongoing series I am working on this year called Promise People. They feel like messengers to people while also bearing ground into play, joy, and some deep thoughts around where surface comes from.
The earthenware figures are made with a hollowing coil techniques along with all of the Traditional Maiolica decoration you are growing accustomed to at Gratitude Ceramics.
I think if the Promise People from this kiln firing could talk, they would tell us to remember what we are made of. That we were never meant to be perfect, only whole. And that our joy and our sorrow come from the same hands so do not separate them. Let yourselves be shaped, let yourself soften, stop explaining everything, and know cracks are included in the design…
